Longville, MN (March 20, 2018) – Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva, WI was the host to the final stop of the 2017-2018 National Snocross season. The track design at Grand Geneva was the largest track we’ve seen this season, with big air, an uphill start, technical downhill sections and with an added twist this year by reversing the track, race fans were in for an action packed 3-day National.
Friday night kicked off the 3-day race weekend, however no Team LaVallee riders raced Friday as it was a final race-day for a regional circuit and was also a day of racing for the National Pro riders, which Kyle Pallin was out due to injury.
Coming into Saturday, Round 16, Zak Mason (Pro Lite) and Team LaVallee’s grassroots rider, Adam Peterson (Sport) were eager to get back out onto the track after a successful weekend prior in Dubuque. Mason had an excellent day of racing when sweeping both of his qualifying rounds with 1st place finishes it set himself up for a great gate pick off of the line for the Saturday Night Final. In the Round 16 final, Mason had a great start, he rode smart and smooth securing his awesome 2nd place finish on the podium Saturday Night. For Sunday, Round 17 – Mason went 2nd and 2nd in his qualifying rounds and was in a good spot of the final race of the season. Off of the line of the Pro Lite Round 17 Final, Mason had a great jump and was first going up the long up-hill and while he was at the top of the hill, into the first corner a couple riders were able to sneak past Mason, putting him in the 6th place spot. With a battle between the riders in 4th, 5th, and 6th place happening throughout the final, Mason rode smart and strong and held his position finishing out the weekend in the 6th place spot and securing his overall 8th place in the Pro Lite class. Great job, Zak for another great season in Pro Lite.
For Team LaVallee’s grassroots rider, Adam Peterson (Sport) had a near perfect race weekend. Saturday Peterson swept the entire day with wins. In his qualifying rounds, he took first place finishes and in the final on Saturday night Peterson ripped the hole-shot, came out in the top position and held his momentum for a 1st place finish for Round 16. On Sunday, Round 17 was a similar day of racing results-wise with Peterson taking 1st and 2nd in his qualifying rounds. In the Sport Final Sunday afternoon, Peterson had a strong start and with smart racing was able to secure another 1st place finish, finishing out the weekend with a 1st Place Podium Sweep and earning the 3rd place overall in the Sport Class. Congrats Adam to an incredible season.
“It’s hard to believe that this was the 9th year for Team LaVallee. It has been fun to see how much the team has evolved, grown, and learned over the years. Huge thank you to the riders, crew, and partners that make Team LaVallee possible. It’s been a year of wins, loses, silver medals, first time opportunities, and most importantly it’s been a year of fun. Thank you ISOC and to the incredible fans for another great season. See you when the snow files.” – Levi LaVallee, Owner
